You see all those Meme’s about doing things in life that are important to you. For me, I believe in that. I am passionate about what I do, and here is why.
How it all began
You have children, people give you gifts. The rooms starts to look like a zoo with all the stuffed animals. However, said child only really bonds with one or two. This got me thinking, what if their chosen companion was a unique as the child?
When you were a child, did you have one favourite companion? Let me know what yours was?
Mine was a brown teddy bear – “Ted”, and yes, I still have him today. You can’t tell in this photo but his ears are just hanging in there. He is thread bare in places from numerous cuddles. But Ted has been by my side for as long as I can remember.
I have given the same gift to my children. My daughter has a pink owl called Cwtch (which is Welsh for cuddle) and my son has a donkey we got while in the UK called Scruffy.
Helping share the gift
One of the reasons I started Cute Cuddles was to be able to share this gift with others. I am passionate about sewing and making beautiful gifts. But also, about making sure each one is unique.
I often hear wonderful feedback from people. Especially comments about our Cute Cuddles reminding them of the toys they had as children, or how their grandparents used to make soft toys and isn’t it nice to be able to bring a traditional gift to the modern market.
My modern twist
The world has changed a lot since we were children. Ted has plastic eyes, which in todays world would be a big no no to give to a baby or small child. This is why I hand sew all of the eyes onto all of the Cute Cuddles soft toys that I make. This ensures quality and safety.
Ted also has jointed arms and the plastic is breaking through his fur. This is another reason Cute Cuddles toys are not jointed, but also why I ensure that I double sew all seams to make sure that they stay whole for a long time to come.
One finally point…
I don’t mean to make this blog sound like a sales pitch – not my intent at all. What I guess I’m trying to do is just raise a few points to look at next time you go to buy a gift for a baby shower?
In a world striving for sustainability, wouldn’t it be nice if we started children on the right path from a young age? So instead of 10 soft toys and countless other stuff ,shouldn’t we be encouraging less mass produced items?
